German guests plan tour of Eastern Iowa to mark 20 years of Sister City agreement

WAVERLY (KWWL) -

A group of  22 people from Eisenach, Germany, will travel to Waverly to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Sister City agreement between Eisenach and Waverly.

The German guests will tour Waverly and stay with host families from October 18-29.

Multiple events are planned, including tours of City Hall and downtown businesses.

The group will take a trip to Dubuque for a visit to the Mississippi River Museum and will also receive a tour of the John Deere Tractor Works in Waterloo later in the week.

The public is invited to attend a chuck wagon dinner, hosted by the Sister City organization with cowboy entertainment performed by Jim Gates and Jim Meyer, at the 4-H Building on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 5:00 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to dress country or western style.
