Honor Flight continues despite government shutdown

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Even as memorials made in their honor are closed off due to the government shutdown, 82 veterans from World War II and Korea took off for Washington, D.C. Wednesday morning.

The Eastern Iowa Honor flight left early Wednesday morning and are expected to arrived home around 10:45 p.m.

The public is welcome to attend their homecoming ceremony after the flight arrives.
