GILBERTVILLE (KWWL) -

The unbeaten Don Bosco Dons entered Friday night with a one-game lead in District Three with only two games to play.

The math was simple: A Don Bosco win over Riceville would clinch the Dons a share of the district title.

The Dons struck out the band early for this one, with the Dons defense forcing a three-and-out. Don Bosco takes over at their 35-yard line.

Quarterback Jack Hogan drops back and finds number 37 Mitchell Corkery. The five-foot-eight, 160-pound senior takes off down the right flat and he is gone on the Don's very first offensive play of the night for a 65-yard touchdown. The two point conversion fails, but the Dons lead 6-0 early.

Riceville is forced to punt for the second time. Seven plays later, the Dons run a sweep for a touchdown on a fourth and 13, but it is called back and they turn the ball over on downs.

After the third Wildcat punt, the Dons take over on Riceville's 46-yard line. The Dons run the exact same play and this time it holds up. Number four Mason Svoboda takes it to the house. The Dons lead 14-0 after the two-point conversion is good.

After yet another nice defensive stand, Svoboda takes a pitch from Hogan down the right side and with a beautiful cut it he dashes from 17 yards untouched for the touchdown.

Hogan then connects with number 19 Spencer Bruess for two points and the Dons lead 22-0 at the end of one.

Less than two minutes into the second quarter, Jake Hogan finds a seam from the Dons 18-yard line and no one will touch him. He bolts 82 yards for the Dons fourth touchdown of the night. Don Bosco leads 28-0 after the two-point conversion fails.

Two plays later, Riceville decides to throw one of their only passes and guess what, number 10 Brett Becker picks it off at the Dons 30-yard line and he would rumble 54 yards before finally getting wrapped up by the Wildcats.

This sets up a pass play for Jake Hogan and he finds Mitchell Corkery, who makes a great cut and walks into the end zone for his second touchdown of the night. The Dons lead 36-0 with eight minutes left in the second.

Don Bosco rolls 50 to 8 and claims at least a share of the district crown.
