Allen College reports enrollment growth over 2012

Posted: Updated:
WATERLOO (KWWL) - Allen College is reporting a 5 percent increase in its overall enrollment since last year.

The college also reported a 10 percent increase in its graduate program this year.

Administrators believe there are good reasons for the high enrollment.

"More and more people are understanding that there's jobs available in health care," said Kendra Williams-Perez, dean of the School of Nursing.

"It's an area you can go into, especially in nursing, that there's a lot of opportunities," she added, noting that at least 90 percent of Allen College graduates find jobs after graduation.

According to Williams-Perez, nearly 600 students are enrolled at Allen College, and about 60 of them will graduate in December.
