The City of Waterloo will buy two properties to give the nearly-completed Cedar Valley SportsPlex a little breathing room.By a vote of 6-1, Waterloo City Council approved the purchase of the former site of Operation Threshold at 300 W Third St., as well as a duplex located at 217 and 219 Jefferson St.Both buildings will be demolished to make room for parking spaces and an outdoor playground.The old Operation Threshold site sold for $400,000, while the duplex site sold for $87,000.The Cedar Valley SportsPlex is expected to open this fall.
