Sac and Fox Trail reopens in Cedar Rapids

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Department says the Sac and Fox Trail is fully opened for the first time in the last few seasons.

The first phase of a sewer project is complete and spring flood damage repairs have been made, allowing the full trail to be opened.

The sewer project improved and elevated a portion of the trail just north of Mount Vernon Road.

With the Sac and Fox Trail now connected to the Prairie Park Fishery, a wide variety of activities is available, including fishing and eagle watching.

The trail will be groomed during the winter for cross-country skiers. Snow will also be plowed from the Prairie Park Fishery parking lot and the Loop Trail to provide year-round access.
