Posted: Updated:

Two people were injured Monday morning after the car they were in left the road, rolled and came to rest in a Cedar Falls cornfield.

Joel Hackman, 27, was headed north on University Avenue at around 2:55 a.m. when he lost control on the curve near the intersection with Viking Road, according to the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say the car hit an embankment on Viking Road, rolled over and came to rest in a cornfield on the north side of the intersection.

A passenger --Jamie Hackman, 20, of Cedar Falls -- escaped the crash with minor injuries.

Joel Hackman was trapped in the vehicle, and taken to Covenant Medical Center after being extricated. His injuries are considered minor.

The accident remains under investigation.
