Paul Dahl begins bid for Governor in 2014

A new entrant in the race for governor in 2014 made his way across the state this weekend. Paul Dahl brought his campaign to Dubuque Sunday evening during a 12 city tour this weekend.  Dahl is a Democrat who is looking to bring a fresh perspective to Terrace Hill.   He is a bus driver from Webster City.

"I am running for governor of Iowa because I think that we can make Iowa better. I think I would be the best candidate to do that, given my life experiences and my education, my ethics and given my energy," Dahl said.

One of Dahl's goals is to keep pushing for a high-speed rail that would connect Iowa to major cities in the Midwest. He said Des Moines would be the hub for that high-speed rail system. Another goal Dahl has is to bring more renewable energy projects to the state. Along with renewable energy projects, Dahl also wants to get more young farmers involved in farming, as the older farmers retire.

"We need to have more farmers in Iowa. One way to do that is since we do have a lot of older farmers in their 70's and 80's when they are still farming. When they retire instead of selling their farm to one person, I'm going to try to persuade them to sell their farm to three of four people and then we would have more farmers." Dahl said.

Dahl joints Tyler Olson, Bob Krause and Jack Hatch as Democrats looking to win the job in 2014.
