1105 Project works to combine services, needs money

Services for four human service agencies in Johnson County will soon be under one roof.

Sunday, The 1105 Project held an open house at its building on S. Gilbert Court. The building will be the new home of the Free Lunch Program. It will also house services for the Domestic Violence Intervention Program, National Alliance on Mental Illness, and the Crisis Center of Johnson County.

Officials plan on opening by January.

"It's intended and will, probably, better serve clients and will reach more clients, said Sara Langenberg, Capital Campaign Chair. "The need is increasing. And it may be able to help stem the tide because clients don't have to travel all over town to get the services that they need."

Campaign chairs say they still need to raise around $800,000 in less than 100 days.

Donations can be made through the United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties.
