Former employee charged in Elkader convenience store thefts

ELKADER (KWWL) - A former employee of an Elkader convenience store faces charges for thefts that happened in May and June.

Elkader police chief Marvin Duff says 45-year-old Tina Jerret of Elkader has pleaded not guilty to one count of first degree theft and two counts of third degree burglary.

Jerret is accused of entering The Store on several occasions during the early morning hours in May and June and taking more than $10,000 in cash, checks and lottery tickets.

Jerret is scheduled to appear in court next month according to Duffy.

The Prairie du Chien Police Department, Clayton County Sheriff's Office, Clayton County Attorney's Office and the Iowa Lottery Commission assisted in the investigation.
