Event scheduled to celebrate history of well-known speedway

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

A reunion is planned to celebrate the history of Tunis Speedway, a well-known raceway that used to draw crowds of thousands from 1948-1983.

The event is planned for Saturday, Oct. 5, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Performance Bodies, 225 Performance Drive in Cedar Falls.

A full day of activities is planned, including displays of images archived from drivers, their families and fans.

Vintage cars that used to frequent the speedway will also be on display.

Organizers say a attendees will get a preview of the upcoming Tunis Speedway historic video.
