A Prairieburg teen was injured Wednesday morning in a rollover crash that closed northbound Highway 13 for nearly 90 minutes.
Sergeant Harvey Hall of the Linn County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called to Highway 13, just north of Burnett Station Road, at around 7:42 a.m. Wednesday for a single vehicle accident.
Hall says when deputies arrived, they found a 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo on its roof in the northbound lanes of Highway 13.
He says it was determined that a 16-year-old Prairieburg teen was headed south on Highway 13 when he lost control , causing the car to go through the median and land on its roof in the northbound lanes.
The teen had to be extricated from the car and was then flown to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids for what Hall is calling "non-life threatening injuries. He says the teen was wearing his seat belt.
Hall says the northbound lanes of Highway 13 were closed until about 9:10 a.m. Wednesday.
The accident remains under investigation.
The Linn County Sheriff's Office confirmed to KWWL that this same teen is charged with failure to maintain control for a similar accident that happened on September 25. Deputies say in that accident the teen was northbound on Highway 13 near Waterhouse Avenue when he swerved to miss a dog and ended up in the median and hitting a sign post.
