    HOPATCONG — A Wharton woman is facing drunken driving charges after she was stopped for crossing a double yellow line, police said. Elise Palaia, 44, was stopped by Officer David Kraus on Maxim Drive on July 22 at 1:44 p.m. The officer found that she had been drinking alcohol, police said.Palaia was given field sobriety tests and failed, police said.Inside the car were empty and half-empty vodka mini-bottles, police said.More >>

MOUNT OLIVE — A Budd Lake woman and a Flanders man were arrested for marijuana possession after being pulled over for an equipment violation, police said.

The driver, Daniel Santucci, 23, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, maintenance of lamps, failure to exhibit documents, and uninsured motor vehicle. The passenger, Christine Gonzalez, 20, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Sept. 30 at 8:38 p.m., Detective Michael Zarro was patrolling Main Street in Flanders when he saw a 2009 Kia with an equipment violation traveling on Flanders Bartley Road. He stopped the Kia and identified the driver and passenger, police said.

During the stop, Zarro saw marijuana and drug paraphernalia in plain view, according to police. Both were subsequently arrested and transported to police headquarters.

Both were released on their own recognizance and have a pending court appearance.
