CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The partial lock down at Cleveland Elementary School was lifted Tuesday after police resolved a conflict with an “agitated person” nearby.

Police were called to 2449 1st Avenue SW at around 6:59 a.m. Wednesday for an “agitated person,” according to Officer Melissa Henderson.

Police then put Cleveland on a partial lockdown due to their proximity to the situation and also temporarily closed 1st Avenue West between Cleveland and Foote streets.

Police say Kyle Peterson, age 30, surrendered peacefully to officers and nobody was injured. He was taken into custody on a signed complaint for domestic abuse.

Peterson's parents said they called 911 after trying to have a conversation with their son. They say their son did not have any weapons.

Cedar Rapids Police were assisted by their Special Response Team.
