Reunion of dogs takes place at Gordon Fest in Cascade

Posted: Updated:

Cascade was home to a family reunion Sunday afternoon, as many made their way to a local park. But this wasn't the traditional family reunion, it was a reunion for dogs. Sunday afternoon marked the 3rd annual Gordon Fest in Cascade. It's a festival centered on one dog named Gordon. In his 12 years, Gordon has fathered 399 offspring. The festival is a chance for those offspring to come and hang out with their dad. Since beginning in 2011, the festival has attracted many people from Cascade and even other places across the United States, including Chicago and Seattle.

Joe Strang is Gordon's owner.

"It gives them a chance to see where their dad came from or where they come from I should said." Strang said.

Strang says it's Gordon's disposition that he believes makes many people want their dogs to breed with him.

"His personality and traits have carried on in a lot of his puppies," he said. "That's the reason why I think I have people that wanted to breed to him so often."

Although Kendl Winter does not own one of Gordon's puppies., she said she has always wanted to.

"I don't have one of Gordon's puppies, no. He has promised me a Gordon puppy whenever I am ready, but I am a traveling musician so I don't get to have a dog. I have to love on other people's dogs," Winter said.

The latest litter that Gordon fathered was in this spring. It was his smallest litter of only three puppies.
