In 2A District 3, 4th-ranked and unbeaten New Hampton played host to winless Waterloo Columbus.
The Sailors would start fast. A 46-yard pass from Charles Verduzco to Patrick McLaughlin and a 15-yard penalty would give Columbus the ball inside the New Hampton 25.
But the Chickasaw defense would come up big from there. Kyle Smith would sack Verduzco for a 15-yard loss to end the drive.
The first quarter ended in a 0-0 tie. But early in the second quarter, Connor Frerichs put New Hampton on the board with a 5-yard TD. New Hampton up 7-0.
Frerichs would get another score on a 1-yard run for a 14-0 lead.
With time winding down in the half, the Chickasaws would do it again. Tanner Knowlton stretched the ball across the goal line for the score. New Hampton up 21-0.
New Hampton goes on for the easy win: 48-7.
