Kaz Brown and the Cedar Falls Tigers have some be goals for the end of the season.

The Tiger senior plans on playing a big role -- already with 180 kills on the season -- and her 74 blocks are tops in class 5-A.

All of this comes just months after Kaz underwent shoulder surgery during the off-season.

Adam Timmins, Cedar Falls Head Coach: "She used to be a pretty one dimensional player as far as she'd have her 1, 2 favorite shots, but now she'll tip, she'll go left, she'll go right, she'll go deep.  She's got it all at this point."

Kas has played a major role as a starter for the Tigers all 4 years of her high school career.

It's a career that's very similar to that of former East High stand-out and Texas Longhorn All-American Haley Eckerman and Kaz -- who will be playing for the Kentucky Wildcats next season -- says Eckerman's been a major influence.

"She just told me when you find the school you'll know, and I think that helped me more than anything, cause at Kentucky I just had that feeling and I knew that's where I wanted to go," Brown said.

But college is still a year off -- and the goal now -- is to get the 5th ranked Tigers to the state tournament for just the second time in 6 years.

Kaz was part of the last team to go in 20-11 -- and she's hungry to get back to Cedar Rapids.

"I think everyone just needs to know their roles on the team and I think this team has really good potential this year, so yeah, I think we can do it," Brown said.
