CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

An Oran man was convicted sexually exploiting children and possessing child pornography after a two-day trial in federal court.

Benton Stong, 76, was convicted of one count of sexual exploitation of children and four counts of possession of child pornography, according to Peter Deegan, spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Northern District of Iowa.

Deegan says Stong persuaded four kids to engage in sexually explicit conduct in order to make pornography in 2012.

He also says that evidence showed that Stong possessed child pornography between 2009 and 2012 at his home in Oran.

A sentencing date has not been set, but Stong faces anywhere from 15 to 110 years in prison, $1,250,000 in fines and five years to life on supervised release. He also will be required to register as a sex offender.
