Martin-Manley, Lowery earn Big Ten Honors

Posted: Updated:

Kevonte Martin-Manley and B.J. Lowery picked up 2 of the 3 weekly Big Ten honors after a couple of huge performances in Iowa's 59-3 win over Western Michigan.

Martin-Manley was named the conference special teams player of the week.  The junior wide receiver returned a pair of punts of 83 and 63 yards for touchdowns in a 59 second span.  He became the first Big Ten player in history to score on back to back punts.

Lowery received the conference defensive honor.  He returned an interception 35 yards for a score in the second quarter, and repeated the feat with a 13 yard return in the third.  The feat hadn't ever been accomplished by a Hawkeye, and it last occurred in the Big Ten in 1998.

The Big Ten honors were the first for both players.
