Janesville breaks through on Northwood-Kensett to win 41-28

Northwood-Kensett was coming into this big district three match-up with a 3-1 record while Janesville sat at 2-1, but their only loss came to top-ranked Don Bosco.

Early in the game a couple of drives stall, but then Hunter Meyer -- who already has five rushing touchdowns on the year -- makes it 6 with a 3-yard TD run to give the Wildcats a 7-0 lead.

In the second, Janesville was knocking at the door again, and again Meyer breaks a tackle and takes it 17 yards to give Janesville a 13-0 lead.

On the ensuing Viking drive, their first play from scrimmage Mitchell Athey breaks one 62 yards to cut Janesville's lead 13-6.

Later in the quarter, the Vikings facing a 3rd and 8, and Joshua Einertson drops back to pass and he finds a crossing Coleby Bratrud who takes it the distance to give the Vikings their first lead of the game -- a 14-13 lead.

In the second half the Vikings were building on a 22-13 lead as Bratrud takes one around end for 6, giving the Vikings a 28-13 lead and 28 unanswered points.

But the Wildcats wouldn't roll over. They put together a drive, and Caleb Reiken hammers one home from 1 yard out to pull the game within 9, at 28-19.

In the 4th, the Wildcats were feeling the momentum as Caleb Reiken caps another drive from 2 yards out to cut the lead to 2. 28-26 with 9 minuets to play.

Later Janesville capitalizes on a big Vikings turnover. On the 19-yard line, Meyer finds a crossing Nick Nelson, who finds the end zone to give the Wildcats a 34-28 lead.

Then with under 3 minutes to play, the Vikings were looking to drive and Meyer, playing on the defensive side, picks the pass and the Wildcats were in business again.

Looking to put it away, and on 4th down, Meyer fakes the field goal and he finds Jacob Ruth who makes an unbelievable one-handed catch to seal the 41-28 victory for the Wildcats.
