Waverly-Shell Rock falls to Clear Lake at home, 35-14

Posted: Updated:

Sixth-ranked Clear Lake has been impressive thus far this season, beating their first three opponents by an average of 29 points per game, while Waverly-Shell Rock has won two tough road games since the Go-Hawks lost their season opener to number four Decorah.

On the very first play from scrimmage for the Lions, running back Carter Hand took a hand-off and ran 58 yards for the score. The extra point was no good, which made it 6-0 early first quarter in favor of Clear Lake.

The Go-Hawks would get on the board after their defense recovered a Hand fumble, and the offense would make it count. Quarterback Jake Velky found tight end Jentry Miller for a 9-yard touchdown pass.

Waverly-Shell Rock converted their PAT, 7-6 for the Go-Hawks.

Clear Lake drove right down the field on their first possession after the break. Chandler Diercks would get the touchdown on a 9-yard sweep.

The Lions would add a two-point conversion when Brock Adams found Ernie Miszewski in the back corner of the end zone, making it 14-7.

The Lions would pile it on in the second half and win by a final score of 35-14.
