DUBUQUE (KWWL) -
One eastern Iowa independent movie theater is celebrating the conversion of all six of their movie theaters screens to digital. Mindframe Theaters in Dubuque spent months this year raising money to go digital. In order to play new digital films, Mindframe Theaters needed to purchase new equipment for their six screen theater including a new projector. Steve Thompson is co-owner of Mindframe Theaters. He said it was the community that really helped the theater go digital.
"Frankly, there are a lot of independent movie theaters that are going to be closing down this year and that was certainly a risk for us," he said. "But we had a record summer. Our customers have always stood up for us and supported us since we opened 5 years ago. We have always been able to count on them and they came through," said Thompson.
Mindframe Theaters fundraising efforts will still continue. Officials at the theater say the fundraiser's second phase will help add additional upgrades and improvements to the theater.
