SHELLSBURG (KWWL) - A one-vehicle crash killed a 34-year-old Shellsburg man Monday morning.

The Benton County Sheriff's Office said Christopher Lee Benesh, 34, of Shellsburg, was killed at around 6:30 a.m. Monday.

Benesh, who was the driver and lone occupant, apparently was southbound on 32nd Avenue about three miles south of Shellsburg when his vehicle left the roadway while navigating a curve.

The vehicle then struck an embankment, according to officials.

Benesh was pronounced dead at the scene.

Assisting the Sheriff's Office were Shellsburg First Responders, the Shellsburg Fire Department, Hiawatha Ambulance and Life Guard Helicopter in Cedar Rapids.
