Former UNI football coach Mike Dunbar died Friday at his home in Washington after a long battle with cancer. Dunbar coached the Panthers from 1997-2000.
He was 64.
Dunbar spent the last 13 years as an assistant at various programs. He left UNI for a coordinator job at Northwestern. He also had stops at California, Minnesota, New Mexico State, and Northern Illinois.
The former Panther coach left the Northern Illinois program after one game in 2012 to take care of his illness.
