WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A work release escapee is back in custody after a chase in downtown Waterloo. It happened just before 1:00 Sunday morning.

The Waterloo Police Department reports the chase started on Mitchell Avenue and ended on lower Washington Street and West Third Street.

Officers said they were led on the chase by 35-year-old Bryan Keller. Keller didn't return to the West Union work facility around September 8th.

He was already serving a 60-year sentence for robbery and escape. He now faces charges of eluding, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license and stealing a vehicle.

Police report a fence near the Cedar Valley SportsPlex site was damaged. No injuries were reported.
