HAZLETON (KWWL) -

Peace, love and dogs. You and your furry friend are invited to attend a Woofstock Festival at Fontana Park in Hazleton. The festival is a fundraiser for the Buchanan County Animal Shelter.

"Probably three-fourths of our funds are raised. We hope to start building our shelter next year, but we really need a lot more funds to get that off the ground. We hope folks will join in and help us," said Kris Klingaman.

Woofstock starts with a dog walk at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 21st. The cost for the walk is $12.

"We do about a one to two mile walk with our dogs, and it's a handicap accessible trail. Everyone's welcome, and even if you don't have a dog, we welcome you to come on out and enjoy the day, take a walk with us," said Klingaman.

Following the walk, pets are invited to enter a variety of contests. Those contests include best costume, ugliest dog, best trick, farthest Frisbee catch, and agility race. Each contest entry costs $1.

You can register online by clicking here. You can also register on the day of the event. Registration opens at Noon on Saturday, September 21st.
