High percentage of teens drive while impaired

Posted: Updated:

A new study shows that 28 percent of surveyed high school seniors say they have driven after drinking alcohol or doing drugs in the past two weeks, or have been a passenger with an impaired driver.

The new study, out of the University of Michigan, found that the number is actually lower than it was in the year 2001, when it was at 32 percent.

It was noted that in the past three years, there's been an increase in the number of seniors in the number of seniors who drove after smoking marijuana.

It was also found that while boys were more likely to drive while impaired, gender did not play a factor into those who rode with impaired drivers.
