Dubuque Airport holds annual open house

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

The Dubuque Regional Airport held its annual open house Sunday morning. The fly in, drive in event drew hundreds of people to see planes and helicopters on display on the tarmac. One of those helicopters was the AirCare helicopter of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Many posed for photos by the different planes and helicopters, while others just looked around at the aircraft on display. Todd Dalsing is Airport Operations and Maintenance Supervisor for the Dubuque Regional Airport. He says the open house is a great way for kids to learn more about aviation.

"It's a great way for people to come out and see the airport on the other side of the fence. You get to come out and see what goes on, on the ramp, get up close and personal, meet the people that work here and you can actually touch an airplane which is great for the kids." Dalsing said.

In conjunction with the open house, the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 327 also held its annual pancake breakfast Sunday morning at the airport. Funds raised at that breakfast go towards supporting aviation promotion activities including the Young Eagle Program.
