PARKERSBURG (KWWL) -

The Butler County Sheriff's Office says a Waterloo man drowned in a private pond in Parkersburg Saturday night.

Emergency crews were called to the 800 block of Miners Street around 8 p.m. on a report of a possible drowning.  The caller said the person had been missing for around 5 minutes and was last seen in the water.  Friends were able to find 21-year-old Alex Etringer under water and bring him to land.  They performed CPR until an ambulance arrived.  Etringer was taken to a Cedar Falls hospital then transferred to an Iowa City hospital where he died.  An autopsy will be performed by the State Medical Examiner's Office.
