Dubuque Veterans Freedom Center giving away accessible lift van

Posted: Updated:

The Veterans Freedom Center in Dubuque received a donation of a van with a lift and an electric scooter, and it wants to give the vehicle and scooter away to a veteran in need.

The van has only 37,000 miles on it.

Any veteran can apply if the van could help him or her or an immediate family member with mobility issues stemming from a disability.

"We thought, 'What a great thing to be able to give this to a veteran that's really in need of it,'" Veterans Freedom Center co-founder Jim Wagner said. "The cart that's on the back and stuff, it'd just be great to see someone be able to really use it."

Anybody who wants to apply can check out the van and fill out an application at the Veterans Freedom Center at 2245 Kerper Boulevard in Dubuque. Contact and location information in on its website HERE.

The winner will be announced at the All the Way Home veterans conference in Dubuque Oct. 12.
