CORALVILLE (KWWL) -

Attorney Matt Adam announced on Thursday that he will run for mayor of Coralville.

Adam, who grew up in Fairfield, moved to the Iowa City/Coralville area in 2007 for graduate school and never left. He is currently a partner with Simmons, Perrine, Moyer & Bergman, PLC, and is an adjunct lecturer in the University of Iowa's Henry B. Tippie College of Business.

“I am proud to live here, have my law practice here, and be involved in making this community as vibrant as possible,” Adam said in a written statement. “I love Coralville, and as your new Mayor, I will lead us toward our shared vision of having a community that is safe, welcoming, and enriches the lives of all those who work, live, and visit here.”

Current mayor Jim Fausett announced in late August that he would not run for re-election after serving 36 years on the Coralville City Council, 18 of those as mayor.

Fausett cited health concerns as one reason for his decision.
