CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -
There's a new way for Iowans to renew their driver's licenses. The Iowa Department of Transportation is installing kiosks in driver's license stations.
Currently, Cedar Rapids is the only Eastern Iowa city that has one. The hope is to get several installed across the state at places like grocery stores to make renewing your license quick and easy.
"It cuts it down a lot for those people that do have nothing to do but renew their license," said Lisa Hennessey, Driver's License Supervisor. "There's no change. It's a commercial license. There's no specific restrictions. And it just gets them through real slick."
You can also renew your license online, if you qualify. However, the Department of Transportation warns there's a few fake websites out there so make sure you do it on the official website.
Persons with disabilities who need assistance with issues relating to the content of this station's public inspection file should contact Administrative Assistant Sandy Youngblut at 319-291-1259. Questions or concerns relating to the accessibility of the FCC's online public file system should be directed to the FCC at 888-225-5322, at 888-835-5322 (TTY) or at email@example.com.
