New Vienna Holds 73rd Annual Picnic

Posted: Updated:

The town of New Vienna held its annual labor day picnic for the 73rd time Monday afternoon. The picnic featured plenty of activities for both kids and adults including an obstacle course and train ride.

People lined up out the door for the chicken dinner. Organizers say it's not just about a day off of work but keeping the community together.

"If we lose our community, we lose our Parish, we lose our town."  Said Charlie Deutmeyer President of the Labor Day Picnic.  "So without the Parish and without the people working together like we're working together, there wouldn't be a picnic. "

Usually the picnic is held at the school in town but that building  is being torn down so organizers had to move today's event to the town hall.
