GRUNDY COUNTY (KWWL) -

In the battle of Grundy County, Dike-New Hartford hit Grundy Center head-on in a 1A versus Class A match-up.

The heat was on, but the referees did a great job of managing the game early with plenty of water breaks. In the first series, the Grundy Center Spartans were forced to punt right away, setting up Dike New-Hartford in great field position for their first offensive series.

First and 10 from the 43 and the Wolverines would go to the air right away, connecting to No. 33, Levi Lynch, for a 16-yard pick-up.

The Wolverines had plenty to cheer about early because four plays later, No. 34, Ben Cuvelier, would get the pitch and run it in easily to the left side of the end zone from 11 yards out.

The extra point was good, and the Wolverines were up 7-0 with 7:33 left in the first quarter.

Three offensive series later, and the Spartans would be forced to punt once again deep in their own end, and No. 4, Gabe Eiklenborg, would do one nice move and run his way to the left side for a 13-yard pick-up.

The Wolverine crowd was feeling another score, and their offense would deliver with strong lineman up front for No. 33 Levi Lynch. He would run 39 yards down the right side for the Wolverines second score, giving them a commanding 14-0 lead over the Spartans.

Final score of this one: 50-0 Wolverines.
