Waterloo begins traffic experiment to cut down on accidents

Posted: Updated:

Waterloo is one of two cities in the state taking part in a research project that aims to reduce the number of accidents.

Friday, Waterloo installed a "red light confirmation system" at the intersection of Ansborough Avenue and University Avenue.

The light, which is attached to the arms of the traffic light, will turn on when the traffic light is red, so police and witnesses will be able to know who had the right of way at anytime.
