DES MOINES (KWWL) -

Governor Terry Branstad's office has announced Chief of Staff Jeff Boeyink is stepping down.

Boeyink served as the governor's campaign manager in 2009-10, as co-chair of the transition team following the November 2010 election, and has been the governor's chief of staff since January 2011.

The departure is on good terms.  In a statement, Boeyink says, "Working for Terry Branstad has been the honor of my life and the decision to leave this office is the most difficult I have ever made."

Boeyink will leave the chief of staff position on Friday, September 6.
