Waterloo West edges Dubuque Senior in season opener

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Beautifully renovated Dalzell field is packed for the opening night of football action as Dubuque Senior plays host to Waterloo West.

Future Hawkeye Lucas LaGrand of Senior with a big sack on Wahawk quarterback Alexander Young in the first half to smother a West High drive.

Alex Young with a little payback in the second quarter taking off on a 60 yard quarterback keeper for the first score of the game--- it's 7-0 west high.

The Wahawks kept Senior out of the endzone in the first half--West High's Lance Dunn comes between Senior quarterback Austin Clemens and wide out Nicholas Hoftender for a big interception at the three yard.  Waterloo West led 7-0 at halftime.

And the Wahawks hang on for a 13-7 season opening victory.
