WATERLOO (KWWL) -

There isn't much that Jim Miller hasn't done.  At Waterloo East, he wrestled in the state tournament, he won 2 national titles as a wrestler at UNI, and ten national team titles as Wartburg's head coach.

Well, he also now has his own day in his hometown of Waterloo.  Mayor Buck Clark officially decreed Monday to be Jim Miller day in the city.

The former Knight coach was also honored with a reception at the Dan Gable Wrestling Museum, which included an appearance by Gable himself.  Afterward, Miller talked about receiving the unique honor.

"I don't get surprised very often, but I tell you, this surprised me, " said Coach Miller, "It was a cool surprise, though, I'm very honored.  I'm a loyal Wartburg guy, but I'm really proud of growing up in Waterloo.  It was my foundation, and I've got a lot of things, education, family, and everything else here.  So, I'm very honored."

Despite his retirement from coaching, Miller will continue working at Wartburg.
