Back to School ideas to meet nutrition needs
o Children who eat breakfast have higher attendance rates in school, decreased tardiness, increased concentration, increased problem solving skills and increased muscle coordination
o Can meet ¼ to 1/3 of nutrition needs at breakfast. These nutrients are hard to make up for later in the day.
o If your child does not eat hot lunch, pack a lunch that includes at least 3 food groups. Think whole grains, protein, dairy, fruits and veggies
After School snack:
o Aim for a serving of fruits and/or veggies paired with protein to keep your child satisfied until dinner
