Matter of Faith: Riverview Women's Ministry offers fall events

Posted: Updated:

Riverview Women's Ministry is now apart of the Riverview Conference Center in Cedar Falls.

"We are not a church, so we are not here to place church ministries for women but to supplement. We hope women in the Cedar Valley will join, and maybe we can reach women that don't have a church home," said Riverview Women's Ministry Co-Director Rhonda DeBuhr.

The women's ministry formally started in May, with lots of upcoming events this fall.

Each Wednesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. or 6:30 to 8 p.m., women are invited to a casual fellowship called "Women Connect." It takes place at the Retreat House at the Riverview Conference Center.

A weekly Bible Study is also slated to start in September from 6:30 to 8 p.m. each Thursday. A daytime Bible Study starts October 1st from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each Tuesday.

The women's ministry is also kicking off a book Club on September 23 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The first book is Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World; Finding Intimacy with God in the Busyness of Life.

Each of those activities are informal events open to any and all women.

"We aren't doing anything real formal because we know in this world of stressful activities and schedules that women just need a peaceful time for themselves, with themselves, and with other women."

Riverview Women's Ministry also has several events planned that require pre-registration. One is a WomanWise conference from 7 to 9 p.m. on September 20th. Tickets are $10. Another activity is a day trip to the Peppercorn Pantry in Aplington on September 27th. You'll leave around 9:30 a.m. and return at 3:30 p.m.

A scrapbooking retreat is scheduled for October 18-20th.

Riverview Women's Ministry Co-Director Rhonda DeBuhr said the goal is to inspire women to develop deeper relationships with God and other women. She hopes this ministry gives women a little time to focus on themselves.
