Rudock named Iowa starter

Posted: Updated:
IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Redshirt sophomore Jake Rudock has emerged from a 3-man race and will get the start under center when Iowa hosts Northern Illinois next Saturday.  Rudock beat out transfer Cody Sokol and redshirt freshman CJ Beathard for the spot.  Beathard was named as the back-up on the 2 deeps.

Iowa appeared to be leaning toward Rudock when he took a vast majority of the snaps during the kids day scrimmage last week.  He's in his third year in the Iowa program, but has yet to take a snap in a game.
