DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

It was perfect weather Friday afternoon for a water balloon pummeling.

For the past three weeks, employees at Dubuque Bank and Trust have been competing against those at Heartland Financial USA, seeing who can raise the most money for the United Way.

DB&T won, so those employees got to lob water balloons at Heartland's executive vice president of marketing and sales, John Berg.

"We've had a challenge before," Berg said, soaking after surviving a thorough water balloon attack. "Last year, the loser had to wear a pink tux to the Christmas party, and so this year we thought we'd change it out a little bit."

The two companies raised a combined total of nearly $83,000 for the United Way. Since that was a more-than 10 percent increase over last year's total, DB&T's market president and senior lender Bill Callahan agreed to get soaked as well.
