WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office hit the greens Friday to help prevent drug use.

Friday was the fourth annual Drugs Offer No Tomorrow (DONT) Golf Tournament at South Hills Golf Course in Waterloo.

Proceeds go to drug prevention programs in Black Hawk County school districts and other prevention & outreach efforts.

“Trying to educate kids so they never start using drugs, or educate against bullying and violence and those kinds of things,” Black Hawk County Sheriff Tony Thompson said. "We don't get that opportunity in law enforcement very often, to be proactive, and that's what our golf tournament helps us to do, and helps us to fund."

Sheriff Thompson says this year's turnout is the best so far, and they're still counting up donations.

The DONT education program is taught in Dunkerton, Union and Don Bosco school districts.
