Man charged with OWI, 3 deaths arrested again

Posted: Updated:

A Texas man being charged with operating while intoxicated and the deaths of three people in Benton County has been arrested again on alcohol-related charges.

Raul Salazar, Jr., of Bushland, Texas, was arrested Thursday in Fort Dodge after he came to a meeting with his probation officer while intoxicated. That violated his terms of release from Benton County, which state that he is to abstain from consuming alcohol.

Previously, Salazar was arrested on Aug. 10 in Benton County. He is accused of running a stop sign and striking another vehicle, killing three occupants, one of which was a toddler.

He is being charged with one count of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and three counts of vehicular homicide, which are Class B felonies.

Salazar was in Iowa for a construction job, and was released on bond of $75,000.

Salazar was transported back to Benton County on Thursday and is being held on $500,000 bond, in addition to the funds posted for his previous arrest.
