Study suggest BPA may be linked to childhood obesity

Posted: Updated:

A new study suggests a possible link between BPA exposure and an increased risk for childhood obesity.

Bisphenol-A is a chemical that was once used widely in many plastic materials, like baby bottles, cups and food packaging. In recent years, it's been phased out of many products.

Researchers with the University of Michigan measured the levels of BPA in the urine of kids, and then measured their body fat and waist circumference.

They found those who had higher BPA levels, had a higher risk for obesity.

Researchers would like to point out that this does not prove that BPA causes body fat.
