Urbandale survives 6-5 in Little League World Series

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (KWWL) -

Urbandale survived a 5 run rally by Grosse Point, Michigan, to win 6-5 and advance at the Little League World Series.

The Iowa kids opened the scoring in the second inning with an RBI base hit from Brady Robert to lead 1-0.  They held that edge thanks to some great defense from Brook Heinen who made a full extension diving catch in left field to get Urbandale out of the third inning.  Heinen then hit a 3-run bomb in the 4th.

Despite trailing 6-0 in the final inning, the Michigan kids mounted a furious rally scoring 5 runs, thanks in part to a 3 run shot from Jack Vyletel.  However, Urbandale pitcher Alex Augustine responded by striking out the final batter of the game as they advanced.

Urbandale will play again at 7 pm on Monday night against an opponent still to be determined.
