Community reaches out to growing family in Reinbeck, victims in Wednesday fire

An area church is helping a growing family get back on their feet after a fire Wednesday morning in Reinbeck.

The home on West and Main Street in Reinbeck was destroyed, but fortunately the family of five made it out safe.

Jenny and Roy Ambrose just moved in on Sunday and the majority of their possessions were in the new house.

"The house was just perfect for our family. It's very heartbreaking," said Jenny Ambrose.

With two daughters, ages 2 and 13, and the son, age 7, the couple also has one more on the way. Jenny Ambrose is nearing the end of her third trimester.

"We don't plan to leave. We're going to keep praying and let God do what he do. I think we probably will be here. That's what's in our heart and that's what we want," said Roy Ambrose.

Pastor Rob Saak with the New Life Assembly of God Church says they are housing donations for the family. A woman from Marshalltown has already donated a car.

The church says they are looking for the following items:

Girls clothing: 2T & girls size 14/16

Boys clothing: boys size 6/7 (Spiderman apparel appreciated)

Boys Shoes: boys size 12/13

Shoes: women's size 7

Diapers: size 4 & newborn.

Men's clothing: large shirts, sweatpants, shorts

VISA gift cards for maternity cloths

1 adult sized bed

Contact New Life Assembly of God Church at 319-345-6390 with any donations.
