DUBUQUE (KWWL) -
Two Iowa credit unions announced Wednesday afternoon their intent to merge. The merger would be between Dupaco Community Credit Union and Iowa Community Credit Union. Dupaco Community Credit Union officials say the merger will further expand financial products, services, and convenience for costumers of both organizations.
Joseph Hearn is President and CEO of Dupaco Community Credit Union.
"We conducted extensive comparisons of what Dupaco offers and what Iowa
Community offers," he said. "When you put the packages side by side their were incredible benefits for the members, the employees and the communities we serve."
The agreement is the first formal step in a process for the merge. The next steps for the process include receiving approval from both the state and federal levels as well as a vote by the Iowa Community Credit Union membership.
Following all necessary approvals, the intended merger is expected to be completed sometime in 2014.
