MARENGO (KWWL) -

Two Newton residents were arrested after officials say they robbed an employee of a Marengo church Wednesday.

Robby Lynn Jones, 42, and Rana Carol Frisch, 38, both of Newton, were arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with second-degree robbery, according to the Iowa County Sheriff's Office.

Jones and Frisch allegedly entered St. John's Lutheran Church in Marengo just after 11 a.m. Wednesday and robbed an employee, according to the Sheriff's Office.

It was unclear if the duo used a weapon in the robbery.

A short time later, the Iowa State Patrol stopped a vehicle near Walford matching the description given by witnesses and found Jones and Frisch inside.

The pair is being held at the Iowa County Jail awaiting their initial appearance. Officials said other charges against them are expected from other jurisdictions.
