A Hawk alert was issued this weekend on the University of Iowa campus.
On Sunday night, a cab driver reported he was held at gun point and robbed. Iowa City Police say it happened on Samoa Drive at about 10:05 p.m.
According to the report, the suspect showed a hand gun before demanding the cab driver's money. The driver handed over all his cash and the suspect ran away.
The suspect is described as a black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt in his mid 20's.
A similar armed robbery took place two nights before.
On Friday night, Iowa City Police responded to an armed robbery one street over from Sunday's incident.
The description of the suspect is similar. A cab driver from a different company was robbed.
The Iowa City Police Department is currently investigating the robbery and is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect.
Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of these suspects. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 358-TIPS (8477).
